Jéan R. Michel Jr. is an Associate Attorney in Mike Slocumb Law Firm’s Washington D.C. office. His practice includes litigating all aspects of personal injury matters. He prides himself on keeping his clients well informed about the various stages of the pre-suit and litigation process to provide the best representation possible.
Prior to joining Mike Slocumb Law Firm, Jéan was an Attorney at the Louis Law Firm handling the firms entire pre-suit inventory and litigating cases before New York and New Jersey Courts. His legal expertise spans several practice areas including, but not limited to, general civil litigation, corporate and insurance defense, bankruptcy, elder law, aviation, business law, workers compensation, and housing law.
Before entering the legal field, Attorney Michel built a strong foundation in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration, with experience in areas such as Title IX compliance, Residence Life, Alumni Affairs, and Academic Affairs.
In addition to his work with Mike Slocumb Law Firm, Jéan is an avid reader and prides himself on community service. In his free time, he volunteers with Breaking Barriers Youth Leadership Council through the Say Yes Buffalo program. He is a Board Member and Legal Analyst for the Arthur Scandrett Disability Scholarship Foundation, at Howard University. Jéan is also a member of the Washington Bar Association, the Black Law Students Association’s Alumni Chapter, the Erie County Bar Association, the Haitian America Lawyers Association of New York, the Paul C. Perkins Bar Association of Orlando, Florida, and the Minority Bar Association of Western New York.
Jéan obtained his Juris Doctor from Barry University Dwayne O Andreas School of Law in Orlando, Florida. While attending Barry University, Jéan was a member of the Southern Region of the National Black Law Students Association, serving as the Executive Managing Editor for the Law Journal, and as President of the law schools’ Caribbean Law Student Association. Jéan earned his Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice with a Minor in Legal Studies from the State University of New York College at Buffalo in Buffalo, New York, where he served on the University’s’ Code of Conduct Judicial Board as a student justice and as a Resident Assistant in the dorm halls.
